Mixed-use housing and development transform Louisville’s riverfront
Goody Clancy created a master plan for the transformation of a 20-acre site into a major mixed-use district on the Ohio River in downtown Louisville. Connecting to an 80-acre park that was recently opened to wide acclaim, RiverPark Place will play a key role in the ongoing transformation of the city’s industrial riverfront. The program for the new neighborhood includes 1,500 housing units, a marina, restaurants, a health club, stores arranged around a central square, and other support facilities.
The master plan lays out a sequence of mixed-use buildings and open spaces along a public waterfront promenade—a character-defining symbol of the new district that overlooks the Ohio River. A carefully integrated network of pedestrian-friendly streets helps create a strong sense of place and ties the buildings, promenade, and open spaces together.
- The marina and first phase of residential development were recently completed.
- Goody Clancy is currently engaged in updating the master plan and designing the next phase of residential development that includes four residential buildings containing retail on the first floor and offices on the second and third floors of each building.
- The four residential buildings will consist of condominiums and apartments, offering a variety of housing options.
