The University of Texas at Dallas, Dallas, TX

An expansion advances the school’s mission and promotes cross-generational networking

This four-story expansion accommodates increased program and space needs for the University’s highly ranked undergraduate management program, graduate studies, and executive education programs while also providing spaces for a broad array of enhanced student services. The program encourages opportunities for cross-generational networking with inviting and functional spaces for individual and group study, casual collaboration, dining, and socializing.

The centerpiece of the design – and new heart of the School of Management – is the two-story Commons fronting a new outdoor Courtyard establishing a new front door. These critical convening spaces, both indoors and outdoors, complement more formal spaces for work and networking.

A monumental stair in the Commons incorporates casual seating and connects to the upper floors, dedicated to faculty and staff offices and support spaces. This much needed expansion solves the school’s needs for greater capacity and affords an opportunity to advance the school’s mission of research, education, and innovation in management practice.
