Brookline Comprehensive Plan Goody Clancy Planning Urban Design

Town of Brookline, Massachusetts, Brookline, MA

An enduring community vision and plan for the Town of Brookline

Brookline, Massachusetts is a town of more than 55,000 residents known for its excellent schools, its vibrant commercial districts, and its proximity to the heart of Boston. In partnership with the Town of Brookline and its Comprehensive Plan Committee, Goody Clancy created a vision and plan that continue to guide the town today.

Rooted firmly in community engagement, the plan:

  • Identified strategies for addressing development concerns, traffic management issues, affordable housing creation, continued commercial district vitality, and preservation of neighborhood character
  • Has seen implementation on many fronts:
  • Expansion of affordable housing through the Aiden’s Church and Olmsted Hill developments
  • Establishment of three new local historic districts
  • Adoption of a wetlands protection bylaw
  • Development of a new transit-served medical office building
  • Creation of 6-acre Fisher Hill Reservoir Park in a neighborhood underserved by open space
