OVERVIEW:

Goody Clancy seeks a laboratory-focused Architect to join our Science and Technology practice group. Our Boston-based practice works with higher-education clients and research institutions on a variety of new-construction, renovation/addition, and preservation projects. Our practice offers a range of exciting projects including everything from core labs to new and emerging academic research curriculum across the institutions with whom we work.  The best candidate for this position will have experience with and demonstrated interest in science and technology projects with an interest in growth and leadership as well as mentorship in this area of practice.  We are looking for creative, friendly, motivated and collaborative professionals who are actively engaged in ongoing learning and involved in the community outside the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with project principal and design leader to develop and deliver the design vision
  • Assumes responsibility for project and team management tasks
  • Coordinates with client and consultant representatives
  • Performs on-site building assessment and documentation
  • Develops design content and detail for project documentation at all phases for Science and Technology projects; with particular focus on lab planning principles, lab equipment planning, and technical requirements for lab details and coordination        
  • Assembles resource data on building area and volume, construction cost, code compliance
  • Travels to project sites and client meetings

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional architecture degree, and architectural registration preferred
  • Collaborative and flexible approach to team assignments
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellence in design, organization and communications
  • Ability to make independent design decisions from a sound base of knowledge
  • Demonstrates experience on Science and Technology projects and the technical and design aspects specific to this project type
