Guiding growth and renewal for Massachusetts public colleges and universities
Over the past decade, Goody Clancy has worked with the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance to complete master plans for each of the six state universities and colleges located in western Massachusetts, establishing for each campus a blueprint for growth, renewal, and improvement over time. Goody Clancy has updated plans for several of the campuses in response to evolving state priorities and institutional missions.
The campuses are as follows:
- Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (North Adams, MA), a growing institution of 2,000 students with a special focus in the arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, located in the scenic Berkshire Mountains
- Westfield State University (Westfield, MA), a small, comprehensive university that is among the most selective and most residential institutions in the state university and college system, serving 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students
- Berkshire Community College (Pittsfield, MA), located in the Berkshire region’s largest city and providing a personalized education for 2,500 students from across the region through a range of two-year and certificate programs
- Greenfield Community College (Greenfield, MA), one of rural Franklin County’s most important institutions, providing an accessible education for the region’s workforce and serving as a cultural hub; Greenfield Community College draws its 2,000 students from a broad geographic area
- Holyoke Community College (Holyoke, MA), a growing higher education provider of 6,500 students, with a strong tradition of serving the region’s diverse population immigrants and successfully advancing students into four-year programs
- Springfield Technical Community College (Springfield, MA), a 7,000 student institution that provides technical training from its historic campus on the 200 year-old Springfield Armory site, now partially under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service
