Husson University (Bangor, ME)
The new College of Business building will be an innovative home for student-focused, experiential learning on a campus long valued for its regional leadership in business education. The extroverted design reflects the institution’s mission, which prioritizes student engagement and community involvement. This new facility will enable Husson to provide experiential learning-based business courses, emotional intelligence-based workforce development, and agile workshops for entrepreneurs, students, faculty, and industry experts to collaborate and create.
The college is composed of diverse academic and professional programs: Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Hospitality, IT, Legal Studies, and Sport Management. The hilltop location of the new facility, immediately visible from the university’s main entrance, will give these programs greater prominence on campus. At the heart of the building, a dramatic double-height gathering space will connect the College of Business with the Center for Family Business, creating an innovative ecosystem of continuous learning across disciplines and life stages.
Project goals include:
- Connecting the College of Business and the Center for Family Business with a central gathering space
- Putting the activity and collaboration of the college’s diverse programs on display
- Fostering collaboration and advising with faculty offices that are highly accessible to students
- Answering Maine’s high demand for skilled workers with spaces that connect employers and students
