Union College and University of Massachusetts Lowell Project Wins
Two esteemed academic institutions have just commissioned Goody Clancy to provide architectural design services for pivotal spaces on their respective campuses.
Goody Clancy architects are gearing up to work with Union College, a liberal arts institution in Schenectady, New York, to help bolster the value, versatility and vibrancy of their Reamer Campus Center. This building houses a diverse collection of student services, including two dining functions, book store, mail room and a number of offices. Constructed in 1910 and renovated in 1987, this vital campus hub will benefit from a design that can sustainably support and expand its many uses for the college community. Our team is excited by the great potential which will enable the bustling Reamer Center to evolve for its users.
A local presence is important for any project, and for University of Massachusetts Lowell we are looking forward to our intensive involvement on a renovation of Olsen Hall, a Brutalist-style 1970 concrete science building. Presently this building serves the Departments of Biological Sciences, Computer Sciences and registrar classrooms. Our team will conduct a thorough study, in close collaboration with DCAMM and UMass Lowell, to determine which elements of the building need to be updated, and which may be strategically repurposed to better accommodate the University’s anticipated research directions.
These are unique projects that require different skills and approaches, yet the same robust attitude towards innovative, creative design to serve our clients and the public. We are thrilled to announce these two projects as a part of our current architectural workload.
