The final steel beam is in place at the new QCC Center at Quinsigamond Community College! Members of the QCC community, state and local leaders, and project partners recently gathered in Worcester to sign the beam and celebrate this exciting construction milestone.
The project is transforming QCC’s c.1965 Athletic Center into a welcoming, accessible hub for active learning, collaboration, career-focused education, and student life. The renovated and expanded building will bring together flexible classrooms, advanced manufacturing and robotics labs, hospitality training spaces, and revitalized athletic facilities within a technology-rich learning environment.
Rather than replace the existing structure, the design extends the existing structure’s useful life, reducing the embodied carbon associated with demolition and new construction and dramatically improving the building’s energy performance. The QCC Center is also an important step in the college’s broader sustainability and decarbonization strategy.
We were thrilled to mark this moment alongside Quinsigamond Community College, the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance, Gilbane Building Company, and the many people helping bring the project to life.
