GC Presents on Enlivening Public Spaces, I-84 Relocation, and Design Review at SNEAPA

Staff from Goody Clancy were proud to be part of the Southern New England APA Conference last week. Director of Urban Design Ben Carlson presented on how to get lively sidewalks and public spaces in downtown, using live-polling techniques to help share lessons learned. Firm President David Spillane lead a session on Goody Clancy’s long collaboration with ConnDot and the City of Hartford on planning for I-84 relocation. You can tell it’s a planning conference when everyone wants a photo of old aerials (the below 1960s-era aerial of Hartford, CT, was particularly popular)! Ben Carlson and Senior Planner Kathleen Onufer also lead a workshop on design review using examples from our ongoing work in Allentown and with the City of Providence, RI (image below). We had a great time learning about municipal broadband, community engagement, and all the important planning efforts going on throughout the region. Thanks for a great conference, SNEAPA!
