Jean Carroon, FAIA, LEED to attend Preservation Week in Virginia
Jean Carroon will attend Preservation Week in Virginia where she will present and be available for book signings.
Carroon will review current research assessing the environmental value of reusing buildings and the increasing technologies that make it possible to improve the performance of all buildings regardless of age and style. She will be presenting her knowledge and data on the topic and signing copies of her new book, Sustainable Preservation: Greening Existing Buildings (2010, John Wiley & Sons), during four guest lectures in Virginia between March 29 and March 31.
On Tuesday, March 29, she will speak at 4:30 p.m., at Sweet Briar College, in the Fitness & Athletics Center 1948 Theater. A reception will follow the lecture. The next day, Wednesday, March 30, Carroon will kick off Preservation Piedmont’s “Third Annual Preservation Week” in Charlottesville, with a lecture and book signing beginning at 5:30 p.m., at City Space, located at 100 5th St., NE. Carroon next will visit Richmond, where there will be two opportunities to hear her speak.
On March 31, she will give a keynote address during the “Virginia Main Street Milestone Achievement Awards Luncheon” hosted by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Also speaking at the luncheon will be Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Rural Economic Development Mary Rae Carter.
The awards luncheon begins at 12 noon and will be held at The Jefferson Hotel, Empire Room, in Richmond. The event is $40 and registration is open until Thursday, March 31.
