A community planning process for improving the economic vitality and overall image of an urban neighborhood corridor.
Project Highlights:
- The corridor retains the “bones” of a vital, vibrant commercial street, is surrounded by a stable residential neighborhood, and has witnessed an increasingly active residential market. At the same time, its retail and commercial mix—despite a jolt of new energy from small food shops opened by South American immigrants—has not kept up with changing demographics and the needs of area residents.
- Building on in-depth market and urban-design analysis, and on outreach to the community’s varied stakeholders, the plan identified resources and outlined potential new development entities that will put the implementation strategy to work.
