Project Highlights
- Goody Clancy worked with the city's redevelopment agency to create a plan for carrying out the community’s vision of a downtown with a rich, pedestrian-oriented public realm, expanded housing and commercial development, better traffic circulation, and a new intermodal transportation center.
- Central to the plan were creative, market-absed strategies for key public parcels—including commuter parking lots and a Department of Public Works yard—whose development would improve downtown, attract significant private investment, and spark development on surrounding properties.
- The plan envisions development of more than 500 downtown housing units—mixing new construction and rehabilitation of older mill buildings—that expand the customer base for existing businesses and attract new commercial activity.
- The city has taken steps to implement the plan, launching a study of smart growth zoning, green-lighting mixed-use redevelopment on a parcel next to the rail station, and expanding a recreational greenway along the Ten Mile River.
"I'm thrilled, absolutely thrilled...the merits of the plan speak for themselves."
The Hon. Kevin Dumas, Mayor of Attleboro
