J.W. McCormack Federal Courthouse and Post Office
Boston, Massachusetts
The U.S. General Services Administration selected Goody Clancy through their Design Excellence program for the renovation of the historic J.W. McCormack Federal Courthouse Building at Post Office Square in Boston. The project is one of the first and largest federal renovations to be targeted for LEED Gold status. It will complete Goody Clancy’s portfolio of work on Boston high rises designed by Cram and Ferguson (other projects include the Hancock Building and New England Telephone).
The McCormack federal building is a major civic presence in Boston by its central downtown location and is one of the finest examples of Art Deco in the area, as well as an example of the federal relief programs of the 1930s.
